Product Description

Liquid-Filled 0-2000 PSI Pressure Gauge with 1/4" Bottom Mount Inlet

The OCI 3034L 2000L is a liquid-filled industrial pressure gauge for use where vibration or pulsation would cause shock and excessive wear to a dry gauge, or effect readings. This is an excellent gauge option for monitoring pressure levels on pumping systems in car wash and other industrial applications in which the maximum pump pressure is 2000 PSI.

The OCI 3034L 2000L boasts a 304 stainless steel case and ring for durability, as well as an injection-molded acrylic lens. 2.5" white ABS dial with black anodized pointer for fast, easy readings. For use with neutral media such as air, water, oil, steam, and other liquids and gases compatible with brass and bronze.

Product Details

Features and Benefits

  • Liquid-Filled Design - Glycerin-filled case provides the advantages of reducing wear from vibration while keeping the pointer stable, accurate, and precise.
  • Durable Case and Ring - The case and ring on this pressure gauge are made of tough 304 stainless steel that is durable and corrosion resistant, increasing the lifespan compared to gauges made with lower quality materials.
  • Easy-to-Read Dial - The 2 1/2" dial on this gauge is made of bright white ABS with solid black lines and numbers for easy viewing of pressure readings.

Compatible Media

  • Air

Installing an OCI 3034L 2000L Pressure Gauge

An OCI 3034L 2000L Pressure Gauge is most commonly used to measure pressure levels of a pump system in car wash and industrial applications, so we'll focus on that installation. You want to read the pressure at the discharge manifold of the pump, not at the gun or nozzle.

  • Start by shutting off the system and relieving all pressure since installing a gauge on a pressurized line can damage the gauge or cause injury. Confirm the gauge range, connection size, and mount style match the application before installation.
  • To create a spot to install the pressure gauge, a tee fitting should be installed on the discharge outlet of the pump. Apply PTFE tape or a thread sealant (sparingly) to the tee fitting threads and insert into the outlet. Connect your hose to the other end of the tee fitting.
  • Apply PTFE tape or thread sealant (sparingly) to the pressure gauge inlet. Place the gauge near the top port of the tee fitting and tighten the 1/4" NPT connection with the proper wrench on the wrench flats, not on the case, while keeping the gauge face positioned for easy reading.
  • Once installed, bring the system back up to pressure slowly and check for leaks, stable readings, and proper pointer movement.

Pressure Gauge Calibration and Maintenance Tips

Check the gauge face and pointer regularly to make sure readings are clear and the pointer returns to zero when the system is off. Since vibration, pressure spikes, and heat can affect performance over time, compare the gauge to a known accurate test gauge during routine service. Inspect the case, lens, and 1/4" NPT connection for leaks, cracks, or corrosion, and replace the gauge if the case seal has been damaged. Although liquid-filled gauges help reduce wear, they should still be replaced if the fill level drops, the lens becomes hard to read through, or the pointer movement becomes erratic. Keep the gauge mounted securely and avoid overtightening during service, as stress on the socket or case can shorten gauge life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a dry and liquid-filled pressure gauge?

A dry pressure gauge has an empty case, while a liquid-filled gauge contains a fill fluid that surrounds the internal parts. In systems with vibration or pressure pulsation, the liquid helps steady the pointer and makes the reading easier to see. It also reduces wear on the movement, which can help extend gauge life in demanding service. Dry gauges are often a good fit for stable applications, although they may be harder to read when equipment shakes or pressure changes quickly. Liquid-filled gauges are commonly used on pumps, hydraulic equipment, and wash systems since operating conditions are often less stable. Therefore, if your gauge is mounted where vibration is common, a liquid-filled model is usually the better choice.

What does zero PSI mean when it comes to pressure gauges?

A pressure gauge with a minimum 0 PSI means it will detect even small amounts of pressure, i.e. anything from no pressure to the maximum PSI capability. This is useful for a few reasons. First, it makes the gauge more versatile as it can be used for anything from very low to high-pressure applications. Second, it can make pump and other equipment troubleshooting easier, as you can reliably discern if you're getting a little pressure and may only need to make a small adjustment, or no pressure and have a more complicated issue to address.

What is a 0 to 1 PSI pressure gauge?

0-1 PSI pressure gauges are highly sensitive, specialized instruments that measure very low pressure and fine pressure changes. They are typically used for precision tasks like HVAC testing, laboratory work, gas line filter monitoring and leak detection, and in sensitive cleanrooms and hospital for pressure differential tracking. Because of their specialized nature, they are not used as frequently as an instrument like a 0-2000 PSI pressure gauge in car wash and general industrial environments. As such, 0-1 PSI gauges are not something we carry as a regular stock item. If you need a precision pressure gauge, call Kleen-Rite at 800-233-3873 to speak with a representative who may be able to source the item for you.

I agree with the last review. It will work until it doesn't, but it will still give you a reading that may not be accurate.
